The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is committed to reaching the world’s most disadvantaged children, including those in Nigeria. UNICEF has a substantive presence in Nigeria with a head office in the country’s capital city, Abuja, and nine zonal and field offices devoted to saving lives, defending their rights and helping children actualize their potential.   • UNICEF Head Office in Nigeria

The Head Office of UNICEF in Nigeria is responsible for delivering policies that guide the programmes delivered across the 10 UNICEF zonal and field offices. The Head Office provides a concise oversight framework to guide the activities of the zonal offices in achieving the goals of the programmes. Also, the zonal offices receive technical support from the Abuja UNICEF Office whenever the need arises.   • UNICEF Lagos State Field Office

As a field office of the United Nations International Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF), the Lagos zonal branch provide a basis for a variety of programmes dedicated to children in areas that have a higher level of need within the zone, under the guidance of policies by UNICEF Country Office in Abuja.   • UNICEF Borno State Field Office

  • UNICEF Enugu State Field Office

  • UNICEF Kano State Field Office

As a field office of the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), the Kano branch, through numerous programmes targets areas within its coverage where children lack access to basic services needed for their development and well-being.   • UNICEF Ondo State Field Office

The field office of UNICEF in Akure has the responsibility for the vulnerable children and women in the region providing them with access to shelter, education, clean water, good nutrition and protecting their rights within the coverage of the Ondo field office.   • UNICEF Rivers State Field Office

The Port Harcourt field office of UNICEF covers Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Delta states. Through social protection intervention strategies in line with policies that conform to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Port Harcourt field office provides vulnerable children and women with access to healthcare, including access to education, nutrition, clean water, sanitation and hygiene, and protection from abuse, violence and exploitation, among other things. The various state governments also collaborate with the zonal office in providing positive exploits for children and women in the region.

  • UNICEF Sokoto State Office

The Sokoto field office is responsible for the discharge of duties of UNICEF in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states. The field office is obligated to assess areas where children within this zone where are plagued with insecurities, natural disasters, and the lack of access to education, good nutrition and shelter, among others. Thereafter, the Sokoto field office in partnership with state governments, NGOs, corporations, and well-meaning individuals provides vulnerable children and women with water, sanitation and hygiene interventions, food items, medications and behaviour change interventions in line with UNICEF’s Core Commitment for Children (CCC).

  • UNICEF Bauchi State Office

With the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child as a guiding policy, the zonal offices across Nigeria engage in a variety of programmes at the local level which are aimed at realizing the rights of children. The Bauchi State zonal office collaborates with state governments within its jurisdiction, including other non-governmental organizations, and individuals to improve access to basic services that promote the optimal development and well-being of children.
