Campus publications serve as platforms for students to convey their thoughts and opinions. Mass Communication departments publish magazines and newspapers as a way of fostering student journalism. Campus publications are very essential not just as training newspapers for mass communication students but for encouraging other students to pursue a career part in journalism while keeping the public informed about activities in the university community and its environs. Mass Communication departments in Nigerian Universities have training magazines which provide a platform for keeping the reading public informed about activities on and off campus. Though most of these magazines are not regular, their existence contributes immensely in sharpening the skills of student journalists.
